What Is Social Media?

Social media is a cooperative forum through which contributors can share, organize and collect data and opinions in a multi-directional commonplace.

The forum administrators can determine the scope of the network, including who has access to view and share information and exactly what topics users should be addressing.  Everyone within the network has the opportunity to contribute information, opinions, questions and much more related (or not related!) to a given topic.
